Akio Chiba
Akio Chiba (January 29, 1943 - September 13, 1984) was a Japanese manga artist born in Fengtian, Manchukuo (present-day Shenyang, China); his eldest brother is the manga artist Tetsuya Chiba. After working as his brother's assistant, he debuted in 1967 with 'Sabu to Chibi'. He became known for the baseball manga Captain (1972-1979) and Play Ball (1973-1978, Weekly Shonen Jump), which together won him the 22nd Shogakukan Manga Award in 1977.
