Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama (April 5, 1955 – March 1, 2024) was a Japanese manga artist and designer from Aichi Prefecture, who worked through Bird Studio, the production company he founded. His Dr. Slump reached a total print run of 30 million copies and Dragon Ball 260 million, while the Dragon Quest game series he designed for shipped 88 million units. He is regarded as a pioneer who helped Japanese manga spread worldwide and as one of the most influential manga artists in history.
