Fujio Akatsuka
Fujio Akatsuka (1935-2008) was a Japanese manga artist, TV personality, and actor born in Rehe Province, Manchukuo. He debuted in 1956 with the rental-manga book 'Arashi o Koete' and became a leading star through the 1962 hits 'Osomatsu-kun' and 'Himitsu no Akko-chan' and the 1967 smash 'Tensai Bakabon', earning the title 'King of Gag Manga'. In 1974 the Akatsuka Prize, Weekly Shonen Jump's gateway award for gag manga, was established in honor of his achievements.
