George Akiyama

George Akiyama (April 27, 1943 – May 12, 2020), real name Yuji Akiyama, was a Japanese manga artist. Debuting in the mid-1960s, he won the Kodansha Children's Manga Award in 1968 for Patman X and became known for pathos-filled gag manga such as Derorinman, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. In 1970 he drew wide public attention with the controversial Zeni Geba and Ashura, and his long-running series Haguregumo (1973–2017) earned him the Shogakukan Manga Award.
