Kaiu Shirai

Kaiu Shirai is a Japanese manga writer from Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, working under a pen name. After leaving a corporate job taken up after university, Shirai made a professional debut in 2015 with the one-shot 'Ashley Gate no Yukue' on Shonen Jump+. With illustrator Posuka Demizu, Shirai created 'The Promised Neverland', serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020, which won the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Award.
