Keiichiro Ryu

Keiichiro Ryu (1923-1989) was a Japanese screenwriter and historical novelist born in Tokyo; his real name was Ichiro Ikeda. After a long screenwriting career he turned to fiction past the age of sixty: his debut novel Yoshiwara Gomenjo was a candidate for the 95th Naoki Prize in 1986, and Ichimuan Furyuki won the 2nd Shibata Renzaburo Award in 1989. Ichimuan Furyuki became the basis for the manga Keiji (Hana no Keiji), and his novel Kagemusha Tokugawa Ieyasu (Shadow Warrior Tokugawa Ieyasu) is among his representative works.
