Masaya Tokuhiro

Masaya Tokuhiro (born March 1, 1959, in Otoyo, Kochi Prefecture) is a Japanese manga artist whose representative works include Shape Up Ran, Jungle King Tar-chan and Kyoshiro 2030. After an honorable mention in the 17th Akatsuka Award in 1982, he made his serial debut in Weekly Shonen Jump with Shape Up Ran in 1983; Jungle King Tar-chan, begun in 1988, blended gag and fighting elements into a popular seven-year run and was adapted into an anime. Eiichiro Oda, who worked as his assistant, reveres him as "a true pro" and a lifelong benefactor.
