Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro

Born in 1975 in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Shimabukuro debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996 and received an Akatsuka Award as a new gag manga creator. His series 'Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi!' (1997-2002) won the 2001 Shogakukan Manga Award in the children's category. In 2008 he began his best-known work, 'Toriko,' in the same magazine, later followed by 'Build King' (2020).
