Taro Bonten
Tarō Bonten (5 January 1929 – 30 June 2008; real name Kiyomi Tanaka) was a tattoo artist, painter and gekiga artist. He began drawing in the postwar rental-book (kashihon) era, used the name Kiyomi Ishii for shōjo manga, and saw gekiga such as Furyō Shōjo-den Konketsuji Rika adapted into films. He is regarded as a pioneer who brought multicolour work and machine tattooing into traditional Japanese tattooing.
