Tatsuo Kanai
Japanese manga artist born October 7, 1955, in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture. He won Weekly Shonen Jump's monthly Young Jump newcomer award in 1971, debuted in the magazine in 1972 with Taiyou ni Oyoge, and worked for about two years as an assistant to Hiroshi Motomiya. His first serialization, the golf manga Hole in One (1977), became his best-known work, followed in the early 1980s by romantic comedies such as Izumi-chan Graffiti.
