Tsunomaru
Tsunomaru (real name Masaaki Tsuno; born May 27, 1970, in Chiba City) is a Japanese manga artist known for series with animal protagonists. He debuted in 1991 through a Weekly Shonen Jump special issue after placing as runner-up in the 2nd GAG King contest with Saru Taishi, and began his first serial with the monkey manga Monmonmon. His signature work, the racehorse manga Midori no Makibao, was adapted into an anime and won the 42nd Shogakukan Manga Award in the children's category in 1996; his other works include the honeybee manga Survibee.
