Yoshimoto Baron
Japanese manga artist and painter born November 11, 1940, in Fengtian, Manchuria (present-day Shenyang, China), and raised in Ibusuki, Kagoshima. He is counted among the artists who built the heyday of the gekiga boom of the 1960s and 1970s; his major works include the Jukyoden series, Dongame Yarou and Kuroi Washi, and his output also includes Ore wa Ryu and 4 Taro 1 Hime. From 2005 to 2012 he served as a professor at Osaka University of Arts.
